The Kings Overcome 35 Points To Prevail Against The Bulls

The Chicago Bulls blew a 35 point lead against the Sacramento Kings and ended up losing 102-98 in Chicago. The Bulls had a 79-44 lead with 8:50 left in the 3rd quarter but would start to slip away quickly. Kings rookie Tyreke Evans led the comeback with 23 points as his club outscored the Bulls in the 4th 33-10 which was enough to seal the 35 point comeback. It was a shock on both ends of the court; of course the Kings were stunned while Chicago didn’t really understand what just had happened. “Wow! All I can say is, Wow! We fought to the end. It was amazing!” Evans said. The comeback was one of the biggest in NBA history, but what was so surprising was the Bulls shot over 70 percent in the 1st quarter and did not turn the ball over once. The 35 point comeback was the largest since the Utah Jazz overcame a 36 point lead in 1996 over the Denver Nuggets.

Former Chicago Bulls Andreas Nocioni who now plays for Sacramento says he’s never seen anything like it, “this game was absolutely crazy, I’ve played in many games with national teams and many games in the NBA and I’ve never seen anything like that. I don’t know if we won the game or the Chicago Bulls lost the game.” Nocioni said. The Bulls must have thought 35 points up why even try anymore, while the Kings just kept attacking the basket and making important shots. It seems with the loss of Ben Gordon to Detroit, the Bulls aren’t anywhere near as good when scoring. Chicago will now have to overcome one of their worst defeats ever as they take the court against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight. Sacramento will host the 21-8 Cavilers come Wednesday night. The Kings have been led all year by rookie Tyreke Evans who in his first season out of Memphis has been averaging 20.1 points per game just a hair off from Milwaukee Bucks rookie Brandon Jennings who averages 20.2 points per game; they could possibly be co Rookie of the Year winners.

The 35 point collapse for the Bulls might have punched coach Vinny Del Negro ticket out of the windy city. Sacramento was only projected to win as many as 18-22 games this year, they already have 13 wins and are without their best player Kevin Martin who before injured was averaging 30 points per game. The Kings are knocking on the 8th seed in the Western Conference although it’s too early to tell, I wouldn’t bet against this young and talented Kings team. When down 35 points, instead of packing it in, the Kings staged one of the greatest comebacks ever and prevailed victorious. – The Sports Weekly for sports news articles alike and latest sports news.
